First Pet

On our walk today we caught a caterpillar. I have been wanting to catch one and let the boys see it become a cocoon and a butterfly (or moth more likely). So we saw several of the hairly little critters today and caught one in a jar. On the way home Carter asked when the caterpillar would make his cocoon. I said I didn't know.

Carter: I don't sleep in a cocoon, Mommy.
Me: No, you don't.
Carter: I sleep in a bed. It's nice and quiet.

This evening at bedtime Caleb had kissed Carter goodnight and I carried him into his room. He started saying something I couldn't understand and pointing back into the loft. I put him down and he ran to the caterpillar jar, picked it up, kissed it, put it back down gently and ran back to me. My sweet sweet boy!!

I guess we have our first pet.
