#30 - Bible storytelling
Too many times I am run by the clock and my to do list. Funny thing though - when I am wasting time on what I want to waste time on I am oblivious to my to do list. However, when the boys want me to do something with them it seems like I always have one eye on the clock and this little voice in my head saying, "You need to get going on your chores!"
This particular morning I ignored that voice and just sat still.
We had our usual morning calendar time and Bible story and then Caleb ran off to play. Carter, however, started flipping through the Bible and asking me questions.
"Who is this?"
"Why is he cross?" ( I love how he says cross instead of angry - I think that is a Little Bear term)
"Why are they sad?"
"Are they the bad guys?"
So we went through most of our Bible and I paraphrased the stories and answered his questions. At first my eye kept going to the clock but after 10 minutes I realized that I was having one of "those moments."
So I turned away from the clock and focused on Carter.
We talked for almost 30 minutes and I loved every minute. These are the moments that make "mommyhood" worth every scream, tear and tantrum. These are the times that I get to look into my child's heart and place little treasures there. I get to mold and polish. What a privilege.
The other day after our Bible time Carter was cuddled in Sam's lap and said, "Mommy, I love Jesus. I love God too."
Better than a symphony to my ears!!!
