Why I love Charlotte Mason

 

#50 - A walk in the woods

I've talked before about my love for Charlotte Mason's philosophies.  This picture is the reason why I truly praise God for leading me to her.  

This inside book reading, never owned a pair of tennis shoes until college, doesn't like to get dirty, doesn't like to be cold, girly Southern girl would never have felt the need to go for a walk in the tall grass and briar filled woods with two little boys if it wasn't for Charlotte.  

And that's exactly what two little boys NEED to do.  

I want to be a naturalist for them.  I want to learn about trees and birds and wildflowers for them.  I want them to look around and praise God for the beautiful earth He created.  I want them to spend more time in the woods than they do at home.  

This is not in my nature.  But by showing me Charlotte Mason, God has shown me that what is best for my children is to step out of my comfort zone and into the great outdoors.
