We're home!
We have been gone all week to Camden to take care of some things at the house and got to see Mom, Grandma and Papa. The boys did well all week and enjoyed visiting their great grandparents. Car trips are always difficult but it helped the boys to have their grandma riding in the back seat with them today on the way home - of course "Little Bear" also helps Carter make it through! Carter was too cute saying goodbye to his grandma and papa when they left to go home. He kept saying "Bye" over and over again and as they pulled away he said, "Bye Grandma and Papa, thanks for coming!" I just had to crack up - where does he come up with these things? This evening I finally figured out how to deal with Caleb's tantrums. You can't comfort him when he gets angry. If you set him down when he doesn't want to be set down and he gets mad it doesn't pacify him to pick him back up. It's too late - he's mad. He throws himself back when you're holding him, throws himself back if you set him down. He is just mad. Twice this evening when this happened I just sat down on the couch with him on my lap facing away from me and waited. He arched his back, throwing himself around screaming for a couple of minutes and I just sat there not saying a word. Then he just quit and sat there sucking his fingers. The second time this happened he only screamed for about 30 seconds. He is going to be some toddler - I'm a little worried! But oh he can be so sweet. When he flashes that smile - I forget all about the tantrums. And he is turning into quite the cuddler. Sam and I kept saying there was no way we could be lucky enough to get two cuddlers as Carter is a huge cuddler. He NEEDS to cuddle after he wakes up. Caleb is slowly cuddling more and more. He flops that head down on my chest and sucks his fingers. I get more cuddles than Sam as he is a little bit of a Momma's boy - finally one of my children loves me (Carter has been a daddy's boy since he was about 9 months old). It is especially sweet as he is learning the goodnight song - all I have to do is start singing the goodnight song and he instantly lays his head down on my chest, closes his eyes and sucks his fingers. Oh sweet sweet baby!
