I decided to start potty training Carter today so this seems like a good time to get back to my blog.  He did really well today.  I had not planned on potty training until he decided he wanted to, so last night he said he wanted to sit on the potty!  There was no successful completion last night but this morning he didn't balk at the idea of putting on big boy underwear so I decided - why not!  He did really really well - only a couple little "spills".  I let him tell me when he needed to go instead of constantly asking him and taking him.  He went through several episodes where we went every couple of minutes - usually with no results.  He gets an M&M every time he goes tinkle so he wants to tinkle a lot.  He also knows he gets to go pick out a car when he goes poopy in the potty so he kept wanting to try and poopy.  Now he is usually a morning pooper but every time he felt the urge by the time we got to the potty, pulled down our Thomas big boy underwear and got situated on the potty - the urge was gone.  I was getting a little worried by the end of the day that we were going to get a little "back up".  After dinner I went out for coffee with the other moms in our preschool group and left him sitting on the potty watching Little Bear.  Shortly after I got to Starbucks, Sam called and Carter got on the phone and told me he had gone poopy in the potty!!  Then he reminded me that he could now get the red "mote" car (a red Nascar car he wants).  So I guess we will be heading to the store tomorrow to get a car!  I don't know how this is going to go but so far so good!!
