Nightly Routine

Every night we follow our routine -
1. get pajamas on
2. brush teeth
3. read a Caleb book
4. put Caleb to bed
5. read a Carter book (or two)
6. get in bed with Carter
7. talk about his day
8. say prayers
9. sing either our "Night Night" song or "Holy Night" (aka Silent
Night - he started asking to sing this one recently) - and we
have to all get totally (head too) under his covers to sing
10. kisses
11. we walk to the door and before I close the door - "Mommy?"
"Yes Carter?"
"How long before the sun comes up?"
"Not 'til the moon goes down."
12. Close the door and he goes to sleep

He had been asking me this question for a month and I was answering - "10 hours" until I watched a "Little Bear" episode with him in which Little Bear and Mother Bear have this exchange. I never knew there was a correct answer!! So that night when he asked me that same question, I gave the right answer. He sat up in bed and said, "You said it Mommy!!" He had been patiently waiting for me to say the right thing. So now, every night without fail, he asks that question, waiting until I get to the door to ask. It is his final assurance of his day.

PS - look for preschool pictures hopefully to be posted later today
