Back to real life!

Sam went back to work today after being off for the week. Back to real life! We got Carter a tool bench from the neighbors down the street as they were having a yard sale. He has loved it - drilled and sawed all day long! We went to "Old McDonald's" as Carter calls it after the grocery store to eat and play and saw our friends the Wilson's. Carter and Sam are only a few months apart and they love playing together. Back home for bedtime. Carter is learning to say his own prayers and here is what I heard tonight - a typical Carter prayer.

"Heavenly Father, thank you for today. Thank you for Daddy, thank you for Caleb, thank you for Daddy, thank you for Mommy, thank you for Daddy - where's Daddy? Thank you for Carter (oh to have the self esteem of a 2 year old - he always says thank you for himself!) thank you for Great Grandma, thank you for Great Grandma Milli ( so sweet he remembered my grandmother Millicent that we saw this weekend), where's Great Grandma Milli? Thank you for Grandma, thank you for Papa, where's Papa? Where's Papa's airplane?"

Then I go ahead and guide him into asking forgiveness - "Forgive me of my sins, help me to obey Mommy and Daddy, thank you for Jesus - Amen"

I know it's only repetition right now, but I hope to instill in him the importance of prayer. I hope he will grow up with the comfort of knowing he can talk to God anytime, about anything.
