Happy Memorial Day!

We had a fun day today.  Sam had to work but the boys and I went to our neighbor Andy's parents house and their neighborhood pool.  I put Caleb in a float in the pool which he did not like - the pool was a little cooler than his bath water!  Then I got Carter in and standing on a long ledge along the side of the pool.  I turned towards Caleb and felt a splash and something bump me.  It was Carter!  He did not realize that the pool got deeper than that step and stepped right off and went under!  I grabbed him and stood him up on the step - he sputtered a little but didn't cry at all and started playing.  I did later try and put him in a float and also tried to carry him around the pool but he just screamed and said, "I want out!  I want out!!"  I got him to jump in holding on to my hands but the minute he hit the water he was asking to get out.  He did that several times then sat on the side and said, "I think I'll just put my feet in."  Caleb eventually got used to the cool water and was okay as long as I was holding him.  Carter did have a lot of fun, just not in the water!  I think we'll try and do swimming lessons later this summer and see if we can get him used to the water.

This evening for dinner he had Cheerios with blueberries (he woke up from his late nap very very very upset and angry so I pacified him with a toddler friendly dinner) and when I got him up from his chair there was a blueberry in it.  I gave it to him and he said, "Oh, I was looking for that!"

Caleb is giving lots of kisses these days.  I'll be holding him and he'll just lean around to face me with his mouth open to give kisses.  This morning when I got him up as I was picking him up out of the crib he was leaning forward to kiss me.  This afternoon Caleb had just woken up and Carter was still recovering from his angry wake up so they were both sitting on my lap.  Caleb discovered Carter's ear and thought it was uproariously funny to grab it, put his finger in it and even try and put it in his mouth.  Carter, needless to say, did not think it so funny!  After a minute or so of bothering Carter, Caleb leaned over, mouth open and gave Carter a big kiss right on the mouth.  I think I saw a little smile from Carter before he complained and pushed Caleb away.  They sure do love each other - for now at least.
