It was only a matter of time!
I knew it would come one day. We'd had tantrums, meltdowns, "I don't want to"s, and now this. I told Carter to not put his feet on the toy box as Caleb couldn't get in to get his toys - I had told him this before. He looked at me and said those words, "I can do it if I want to." And there you go - the back talk begins. I gave him that horrified Mom look and told him to go straight to time out. He screamed the whole way there - he hates time out - and sat there for his time. After his time was up we had a talk about how we are to speak to Mommy. We'll see if those words come up again but I will have to say he didn't put his feet up on the toy box again!
